Grammar: ～に対して・～に関して

【Structure】 N ＋ に対して（は・も） 【Meaning】 Indicates the target of an action or attitude; also used to show contrast. 【Examples】 ・お客様きゃくさまに対して、丁寧ていねいな言葉ことばを使つかう。 　→ We use polite language toward customers. ・兄あにが活発かっぱつなのに対して、弟おとうとは静しずかだ。 　→ Whereas the older brother is lively, the younger is quiet.

【Structure】 N ＋ に関して（は）　N ＋ に関する ＋ N 【Meaning】 Introduces the topic or field the sentence deals with. More formal than ～について. 【Examples】 ・新あたらしい制度せいどに関して、質問しつもんがあります。 　→ I have a question concerning the new system. ・環境かんきょうに関する法律ほうりつが成立せいりつした。 　→ A law concerning the environment was passed.
